AI Can Replace Talent—But Should It?

AI is out here eyeing the songwriting gigs—eyeing, not nailing. Nothing says “you’re still relevant” like listening to formulaic sludge churned out by a soulless algorithm.

I’ll be the first to admit, after letting my guitar gather dust for ages, my songwriting chops are…well, rusty AF. So yeah, don’t hold your breath for my big comeback tour.

But hey, since I wasn’t exactly in the mood for any real songwriting—translation: I don’t really wanna do the work today—I downloaded this Mozart AI app for funzies. With my self-proclaimed black belt in crafting robust AI prompts, I know I could give the app a real workout. But let’s face it—that’s probably not how most people are gonna use it.

If you’re hoping to shortcut your way to stardom by making this app your ghostwriter, you’ll likely just hit “generate” and call it a day, skipping the whole, you know, effort part. So I dialed in two or three (I don’t remember) measly sentences, set the genre to country, and let it rip.

Spoiler: it wasn’t love at first song. Boom—instant mediocrity! The result? A tune that might be a hit at a slightly sketchy political rally…if we’re lucky. Ew. Just…ew.

Here’s hoping this AI drivel doesn’t flood our airwaves anytime soon. The arts deserve better than mass-produced robot ballads, right? And I’d rather not be part of the “dumbing down” of creativity, thanks.

Fascinating. AI is “instant mediocrity!” The Mozart AI song reminds me of that obnoxious “God Bless The U.S.A.” song by Lee Greenwood. He’s so patriotic that he wrote “God Bless Canada” to the same tune and lyrics.

I play guitar and wrote a few songs when I was younger, mainly about breakups and love. We should compare notes sometime.

      Hi, Larry —
Ah, mediocrity—such a timeless classic! Isn’t it funny how AI has become the secret sauce for those who don’t value authenticity? I suppose using AI is one way to ‘write’ a song or a book, but as you and I both know, writers and other artists have somehow always managed without it. Who knew they could be so productive without a computer sidekick? Thanks for chiming in. It’s nice to know there’s still room for a little skepticism in our AI-assisted world!
